Research Story: I am basically a Chemical Educationist and specifically Inorganic Chemist. At present, I am holding the Chair of HEAD, Department of Chemistry, Ramthakur College, Agartala, West Tripura, India. I received my B.Sc. and M.Sc., Ph.D. degree and Post-Doc from the Tripura University in 1998, 2001, 2008 & 2009 respectively. I completed my Ph.D. & Post-Doc under the supervision of Prof. M. K. Singh, Dean of Science, Tripura University, India. Apart from the teaching assignments, I am also be the Principal Investigator of SERB-DST project, Govt. of India, New Delhi. I have also DST sponsored research Laboratory namely ‘Synthetic Inorganic Research Laboratory’ (ESTD-Dec- 2013) at Ramthakur College, Agartala, Tripura. Two scholars are working now under my supervision.
To enhance interest of students’ who belong to paranoia zone of chemistry from UG to PG level, till now, I have innovated 16 time economic teaching methodologies including 36 new formulae in the field of Chemical Education within the period (2013-2015) to make Chemistry metabolic, time economic & interesting. These methodologies encourage students to solve multiple choice type questions (MCQS) at different competitive examinations (NET, SET, NEET, JEE-MAIN, NDA, TPSC, UPSC, STPGT, STGT etc.) in a time economic ground. Experiment in vitro, on 100 students, showed that, by using these innovative methods, students can save up to 10-15 minutes time in the examination hall. On the basis of this, I can strongly recommend to use these time economic interesting metabolic pedagogies. Concepts that usually confuse the students in the examination hall have been explained in my pedagogies by some innovative methods and formulae based on applied mathematics.
These pedagogies were approved & indexed by the Indian Chemical Society (Aug-2015), India, in their journal ‘Education in Chemical Science and Technology’, Ind.Chem.Soc., Vol-3, No.1, pp1-28, Aug-2015, American Chemical Society New York, USA (2014-15), (https://communities.acs.org/docs/DOC-46667) and University of California, Davis, USA(2015-16).
My Two (02) time-economic methodologies on the prediction of ‘Number of Chemical bonds in Hydrocarbons’ came in the form of a tutorial tool namely ‘Hydrocarbons Parser’ launched by the minerazzi.com (defunct Microsoft Innovational Centre, USA) Bayamon, Puerto Rica, USA to calculate and discriminate of chemical bonds in hydrocarbons
