Dr. Arijit Das

Research Story: I am basically a Chemical Educationist and specifically Inorganic Chemist. At present, I am holding the Chair of HEAD, Department of Chemistry, Ramthakur College, Agartala, West Tripura, India. I received my B.Sc. and M.Sc., Ph.D. degree and Post-Doc from the Tripura University in 1998, 2001, 2008 & 2009 respectively. I completed my Ph.D. & Post-Doc under the supervision of Prof. M. K. Singh, Dean of Science, Tripura University, India. Apart from the teaching assignments, I am also be the Principal Investigator of SERB-DST project, Govt. of India, New Delhi. I have also DST sponsored research Laboratory namely ‘Synthetic Inorganic Research Laboratory’ (ESTD-Dec- 2013) at Ramthakur College, Agartala, Tripura. Two scholars are working now under my supervision.

To enhance interest of students’ who belong to paranoia zone of chemistry from UG to PG level, till now, I have innovated 16 time economic teaching methodologies including 36 new formulae in the field of Chemical Education within the period (2013-2015) to make Chemistry metabolic, time economic & interesting. These methodologies encourage students to solve multiple choice type questions (MCQS) at different competitive examinations (NET, SET, NEET, JEE-MAIN, NDA, TPSC, UPSC, STPGT, STGT etc.) in a time economic ground. Experiment in vitro, on 100 students, showed that, by using these innovative methods, students can save up to 10-15 minutes time in the examination hall. On the basis of this, I can strongly recommend to use these time economic interesting metabolic pedagogies. Concepts that usually confuse the students in the examination hall have been explained in my pedagogies by some innovative methods and formulae based on applied mathematics.

These pedagogies were approved & indexed by the Indian Chemical Society (Aug-2015), India, in their journal ‘Education in Chemical Science and Technology’, Ind.Chem.Soc., Vol-3, No.1, pp1-28, Aug-2015, American Chemical Society New York, USA (2014-15), ( and University of California, Davis, USA(2015-16).

My Two (02) time-economic methodologies on the prediction of ‘Number of Chemical bonds in Hydrocarbons’ came in the form of a tutorial tool namely ‘Hydrocarbons Parser’ launched by the (defunct Microsoft Innovational Centre, USA) Bayamon, Puerto Rica, USA to calculate and discriminate of chemical bonds in hydrocarbons

This tool indexed in the library of City College of New York, City College Chemistry Web Resources Page ( in their Computational Chemistry Section (2017).

Till now, I have published several research papers and book chapters from USA, UK, Germany, India etc. under different renowned publishers like Taylor & Francis, Elsevier, Springer, Science and Education Publishing, Scientific & Academic publishing, Global Journal Corporation (UK & USA), IOSR, Asian J. Chemistry, CSIR, ICS (India) etc.

List of Published papers are available through the link

Beside this, I have also published two books, one from LAP, Germany having ISBN - 978-3659909801, entitled ‘Mixed Ligand Complexes of 1,1-Dithiolates and Nitrogen Donors’ which is available in Amazon

I have received an Invitation from the prestigious ‘American Chemical Society’ (ESTD-135 yrs ago) along with their nomination letter bearing Fellow nominated no FN-2047213025 and Candidate Promo Code 1513JA601 to join the ACS network and Joined as an ACS Member on 06-12- 2013. Beside these, I am being the Senior Fellow of Indian Chemical Society, Life Member of Indian Academic of Forensic Science (IAFS), Indian Science Congress (ICS), India.

I am be the Editor of ‘World Journal of Chemical Education’, USA (Dec-2013)
Assistant Editor, International Journal of Advanced Education and Research, Gupta Publications, New Delhi, India (2017).
